Privacy Policy

Our commitment to protecting student privacy, transparent data handling, and Australian privacy compliance.

Core Privacy Standard: Zero Mark Data Stored on Servers

StudyScoreCalc.com operates on a strict client-side architecture. School-Assessed Coursework (SAC) marks, examination scores, target ATAR goals, and subject portfolios are processed entirely within your local web browser. We do not transmit, collect, or store your assessment marks on any remote server or database.

1. Introduction and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)

This Privacy Policy explains how StudyScoreCalc.com ("we", "our", or "the platform") manages and protects your information when you access our online ATAR and study score estimation tools across Australian states.

We respect your right to privacy and are committed to complying with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as well as international privacy and data protection standards.

2. Assessment Scores and Browser LocalStorage

When you enter marks, exam scores, or subject names into our calculators:

  • Local Computation: All mathematical formulas, normal distribution algorithms, and scaling adjustments execute directly on your device via client-side JavaScript.
  • Browser LocalStorage: For your convenience, the calculator saves your last entered scores in your browser's private local memory (`localStorage`) so your data remains intact if you refresh the page. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by clicking the "Reset" button or clearing your browser cache.
  • No User Accounts Required: We do not require registration, login credentials, student ID numbers, or school names to use our calculators.

3. Information Collected Automatically (Log Files)

Like most web platforms, our hosting infrastructure (such as Cloudflare Pages) automatically logs standard, non-personally identifiable diagnostic information when you access our site:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (anonymised where possible)
  • Browser type, language, and operating system
  • Referring and exit pages, date, and timestamp
  • Page performance and CDN diagnostic metrics

This information is used exclusively to analyse aggregate traffic patterns, defend against malicious DDoS attacks, and ensure rapid content delivery across Australian internet networks.

4. Cookies and Advertising Disclosures

Cookies are small text files placed on your device to enhance your user experience, remember your theme preference (Light/Dark mode), and deliver relevant content.

Third-Party Vendors and Google:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

5. Protection of Minor and Student Information

Our calculators are intentionally built for secondary school students in Years 11 and 12 across Australian states, many of whom are under the age of 18. Because we recognise the heightened sensitivity of student data, we deliberately operate without registration gates or student databases.

We do not knowingly collect, store, or solicit personal identification information (such as real names, home addresses, or phone numbers) from children or students under 18.

6. Direct Inquiries and Communications

If you contact us via email ([email protected]) or submit feedback through our Contact page:

  • We only use your provided email address and name to respond to your specific inquiry or feedback.
  • We will never sell, rent, or distribute your email address to commercial marketing lists or third-party mailing agencies.

7. External Links and Security Standards

Our website may contain links to external educational sites, such as state admissions authorities and curriculum bodies (e.g. VCAA, VTAC, UAC, QTAC, TISC, and SATAC). We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or policies of external third-party domains.

All traffic between your browser and our platform is encrypted in transit using industry-standard Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS/TLS) encryption provided by Cloudflare edge networks.

8. Policy Updates and Contact Information

We reserve the right to revise or update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect emerging Australian privacy regulations, changes in web technologies, or adjustments to our tools. Any updates will be posted immediately on this page with an updated revision date.

If you have any questions, concerns, or privacy-related complaints regarding this policy or our data practices, please contact us directly at [email protected].
